Salute 2001

Salute - the best wargames show in the UK - has been in existence almost three decades. Salute 2001 is a one day show which takes place at Olympia 2 London on Saturday April 21st. The doors open to the public at 10.30am and close at 6.00pm.

It costs £6 to get in and advance entry badges can be purchased - there's even an opportunity to get in for FREE! Check out the floor plan - there are many games to watch and play, things to buy, bargains to be had, memorabilia to be collected, models and other painted items to be viewed and other experiences to be had.

Travel to the event is straight forward and on the day you might find out more about the hobby, the club that runs Salute - the South London Warlords or find a club near to where you live. Come along and have a great day!

Salute is a one day games and trade show with a difference

Salute has always tried to push boundaries. For over 30 years the show has grown and grown and we've fitted in as much as possible: the best traders, picked to give the you - the gamer - the widest selection of figures, rules, books and scenery items; plus the finest games from ALL periods and catering for all interests: historical and non historical. Last year we moved to a new venue to give you what you've said you always wanted: a bigger show.

This year - we’re back with more

The move to Olympia 2 was a success, but, extra space aside, we identified a few problems (as one would expect with a new venue).

We asked you to fill in a questionnaire which lots of you did and the feedback was very largely positive. The full text of this can be read on our website (www.salute.co.uk) but the net results were that the very large majority of those attending liked what we had done with the move but we had to fix the catering, the seating, the lifts, the toilets and most of all fix the door! The other major point raised was about queue buster badges which, frankly, didn't work for the first time in fifteen years and the line of people went around the block.

So, this year we've fixed all of that: we've hired an extra floor. By taking the ground floor and the first floor we do a number of things: first and foremost, we have even more space to fill with more traders and games.. This gives you more choice and more to see. A bonus is that we also increase the number of toilets, restaurants, and so forth with the space to provide an extra seating area. Lastly we have a guaranteed, all to ourselves, main entrance. That means entry like at previous Salutes (at Kensington) only better. It also means no lifts for the public and no wait. It means that the Queue Buster Badges will work the same as they always have.

We think this means the best of all worlds for everyone. The only slight downside is that it's cost us rather a lot of money… so this means that for Salute 2001 entry will be £6. However, like in recent years, you can get in for FREE if you spend thirty pounds or more with Foundry on the day. Other than all of this moving floor shenanigans, Salute 2001 will be the same as usual - only better. More games and displays than ever before with no period prejudice at Salute and no beefs about genre. Just the best we can attract with a special emphasis on participation: around half of the games should have spaces available for gamers to just turn up and play.

All of the regular features of Salute will be there: like last year we aim to have a painting competition and a Bring & Buy (as they both proved popular). Finally, because of it's location, Salute Olympia offers even easier access to via the tube, buses and trains, with extensive car parks nearby.

So don't miss out: Get into Salute Olympia Free with Foundry and jump the queue with a Q Buster Badge.
